Auction Industry Revenues
The Auction
Industry's Gross Revenues grew nearly 5% in the third quarter of
2007; compared to the same time one year ago, according to survey results
gathered by Morpace Inc. With the third quarter growth this year, the current projections call for full 2007 Gross Sales receipts to total $269.6 billion. This is larger than the $257 billion in 2006, which was a 7.1% increase over 2005. In the survey, 47% of NAA members reported and increase in Gross Sales receipts in the first three quarters of 2007, with 31% reporting no change compared to the previous year. Residential Real Estate Auctions continue to be one of the fastest growing segments of the live auction industry, with an estimated 3.1% Growth since the end of the second quarter of this year. During the same time period, Commercial and IIndustrial Real Estate Auctions grew 2.9%. Thirty-seven percent of Real Estate Auctioneer reported and increase in Real Estate Auctions, and 32% reported no change. Total Real Estate Revenues for 2006 included: Residential Real Estate totaled $16 billion; Commercial/Industrial Real Estate totaled $15 billion, and Land/Agricultural Real Estate Auctions totaled $25.3 billion
