CAMPBELL & ASSOCIATES Robert H. Campbell established the auction firm, "Robert H.Campbell, Auctioneer" in 1947 Upon his return to the United States in October 1945 at the end of World War II, Mr. Campbell began assisting local auctioneers with the set up and displaying of the merchandise for auction.  He also delivered some of the purchased goods to the buyers' homes. Utilizing his prior business experience, his first hand experience with the Auction Methods of Marketing, and at the urging and encouragement of local attorneys and business professionals, Mr. Campbell established the firm of Robert H. Campbell, Auctioneer in June of 1947. At that time, he began conducting auctions of real and personal property in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and Southern Maryland. Mr. Campbell was one of the earliest members of the National Auctioneers Association-(NAA) and the Auctioneers Association of Maryland-(AAM).  He was the first member to be inducted into the Auctioneers' Association of Maryland "Hall of Fame".  He was also awarded, by the General Membership, a "Life" membership in Auctioneers' Association of Maryland. Campbell conducting the real estate auction of the Carroll-Davis House located at 179 Main Street from the Anne Arundel County Courthouse Courtyard in January 1955. The property sold for $60,000.00. The house was later donated to and moved by Historic Annapolis to its present location on the campus of St. Johns College on July 19, 1955 at a cost of over $21,000.00 It was this photograph that inspired Annie Jane Campbell (Bob's Wife) to create our firm's logo We Stand for More than Your Average Auctioneer!!! In 1948 Mr. Campbell, once again utilizing his extensive knowledge of Annapolis real estate and knowledge provided to him by his auction business as well as other business interests, established the appraisal portion of the business. Mr. Campbell continued his education in the fields of real estate, antiques, decorative arts, and collectibles and brought this knowledge to the appraisal business. He has been a member and earned designations from the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, the International Society of Appraisers, and the American Society of Appraisers. He has also taught auction and appraisal classes on a local level. The business grew rapidly and additional help was needed to handle the expanded workload. Mr. Campbell turned to his children who have assisted him in various ways since their childhood. Mr. Campbell retired from the active business operation in late 1995, however he continues as a consultant to this day. The firm, Robert H. Campbell and Associates, LLC, is a Three Generation Family owned and operated business with offices in Annapolis, MD and Chestertown, MD. Currently, the two partners are Robert H. Campbell II, who serves as Director of Auction Operations, and Jane Campbell-Chambliss, who serves as Director of Appraisal Operations. Robert H. Campbell III works with the firm as an Auctioneer and Appraiser. Doris K. Campbell (wife of Robert II) is employed as Comptroller and Office Manager and Joshua "Josh" A. Rakers (nephew) is employed as I.T. Manager for the firm. ROBERT H.
